AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

The aim of Friends of Saltersgate School (FOSS) is to promote the welfare and support the needs of children and young people who attend Saltersgate School, the Additional Support Needs School serving Midlothian and also to provide support to their families.

FOSS volunteers work to provide both equipment and experiences that benefit the children and young people’s development, with the active support of School professionals.

ACTIVITIES

The organisation carries out a range of activities with the Saltersgate School community of staff, parents and families, such as:

  • Raising money for the provision of school equipment;
  •  Raising money for projects which benefit the children, young people and their families;
  • Managing and co-ordinating a programme of beneficial experiences for children, young people and their families, including an annual programme of family Day’s Out and of week-long caravan holidays.

WHY DO WE NEED YOUR HELP?

Saltersgate offers enhanced educational provision, but respite breaks for children with disabilities are non existant. By supporting our charity you will be helping some of the most vulnerable children in our society to enjoy everyday things they may not experience otherwise, and to build their self-esteem and confidence.

WHAT THE FAMILIES WE HELP SAY

  • Great to get away as a family, the kids enjoyed it a lot.
  • Holiday thoroughly enjoyed by all the family.
  • Five years since we had a family holiday, it has been brilliant.
